The Manzano chile gets its name from its apple-like shape. In color, they can range from light green, bright yellow, orange and red when ripe. They are a spicier chile, ranging from medium to hot in heat level but still offer a sweet and fruity flavor. This sweetness, paired with the pepper’s thick walls, make the Manzano taste richer, spicier, and (for many) tastier. On the Scoville Scale it ranges between 12,000 and 30,000 units in heat level.
